Patricia Kempler

An organiser and “leader” of planning for the first strike. Kempler spoke to the Los Angeles Times while participating in the November 1, 1961 demonstration to explain that her involvement began with a meeting on October 15 at the home of “Mrs. Gerry Dreyfuss.” Kempler informed the press that most of the local organizers belonged to “half a dozen of the usual organizations.” She also explained that the suffragettes and recent Civil Rights “sit-in strikers” had been a big influence on WSP.
