Vanne M. Lautman

A participant in the first strike in Los Angeles, Lautman wrote to the LA Times to complain about their coverage of the day’s events. She felt the Times presented a “most distorted picture” of the protesters by writing that “most of the women wore housedresses or pedal pushers.” Lautman instead observed that “of the 2000 women present, there were perhaps only 20 in pedal pushers or slacks. As for housedresses, I saw none.”

The extent of her continued involvement in WSP is unclear.
